Sistema

We are glad to share with you the work of Sistema Huronia, a Huronia Community Foundation grant recipient. Sistema Huronia provides free, orchestra-based music lessons to children in the Midland area in a safe and nurturing environment. These children, in Grades 3 through 8, who would otherwise be excluded from this opportunity:

– learn to read music and play an instrument

– become part of an orchestra

– meet new friends and have fun

– learn to work as a team

– build confidence and self-esteem

– learn valuable life skills while at the same time growing musically

Thanks to the generosity of the Huronia Community Foundation, Sistema Huronia is now in its second year of operation and has grown to include students from four local schools. The purchase of the necessary instruments — violin, viola, cello and bass — would not have been possible without this grant. As more and more individuals in the area hear of our program and see the results of the work that we do, we are able to continue to expand and offer the program to other deserving children. This would not be possible without the generous support of the Huronia Community Foundation!
